Quattro personaggi tramite ricordi e azioni quotidiane raccontano la loro infanzia, la relazione con l’isola di Burano e la laguna che la circonda. I temi affrontati sono la vita in isola tra passato e presente, la pesca e la sua evoluzione, l’arte e gli artisti contemporanei dell’isola, il teatro, la musica e la relazione con il turismo. Questo documentario si propone di dare importanza agli aspetti più veri e sinceri di Burano, dando una nuova luce ad un luogo sempre più visitato e che indubbiamente riflette la sua parte più commerciale nascondendo un’anima profonda che chi la vive conosce.
Four characters through memories and daily actions tell their childhood, their relationship with the island of Burano and the lagoon that surrounds it. The themes addressed are life on the island between past and present, fishing and its evolution, art and contemporary artists of the island, theater, music and the relationship with tourism. This documentary aims to give importance to the most true and sincere aspects of Burano, giving a new light to a place that is increasingly visited and that undoubtedly reflects its most commercial side, hiding a deep soul that those who live there know.

Boreana racconta una comunità che resiste al tempo che scorre; una cultura che si fa visibile nei colori delle case, nei gesti lenti dell’artigianato, nei ritmi del quotidiano. Attraverso la lingua veneta — qui non ostacolare ma strumento identitario — il film dà voce autentica a una memoria viva, espressione profonda di quel genius loci che la sezione ITALIAE intende celebrare. In un’Italia fatta di mille paesaggi, mille tradizioni, mille parlate, Boreana si distingue per la capacità di elevare il microcosmo di Burano a simbolo universale di un patrimonio culturale che non appartiene solo alla storia, ma al presente e al futuro.
