
Roland Sejko
Born and raised in Albania, he graduated in 1990 from the Faculty of History and Philology in Tirana. Since 1991 he has lived in Rome, and since 1995 he has worked for Istituto Luce, now Cinecittà, where he is currently Head of the Editorial Department of the Istituto Luce Historical Archive.
He has written and directed several documentaries, most of which are characterized by the reuse of archival footage.
In 2013 he won the David di Donatello Award with his documentary Anija / The Ship. In 2021 he won the Nastro d’Argento with The Image Machine of Alfredo C., presented in the official selection of the 78th Venice International Film Festival, Orizzonti Extra section. His latest documentary, State Film (2025), was presented at the Giornate degli Autori – Notti Veneziane, within the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
He is the artistic curator and author of video content for numerous exhibitions by Istituto Luce and Cinecittà. He is also one of the curators of MIAC, the Italian Museum of Cinema and Audiovisual at Cinecittà.
