“Ugo La Pietra. A Disruptive System” explores the radical vision of Ugo La Pietra, a key figure in art, design and architecture over the last sixty years. The documentary traces the journey of an artist who used every means at his disposal to develop his “disruptive system”: a way of creating that challenges the system and stereotypes, to help the individual evolve through new forms of perception. Architect, artist and designer, La Pietra is a unique figure. He has curated over 1,000 exhibitions, won two Compasso d’Oro awards, made 13 art films, published over 300 books, designed more than 2,000 objects and 3,000 paintings; he has also taught at universities, edited magazines and played the clarinet in Milan’s clubs. Through interviews and archive material, the film captures the complexity of an artist capable of traversing eras and languages, leaving behind a constellation of works that today form an essential part of our cultural memory.
