Kandinsky
Sinossi
An animated film telling the story of how artist Wassily Kandinsky changed the world, showing how his visions, theories and approach reshaped not only art, but also design, architecture and photography. The film is fully animated, combining digital techniques with handmade sets, and it also uses the possibilities of AI to show how Kandinsky’s works affected the viewer.
Director's statement
I’ll admit: abstraction has never come easily to me. I used to wonder—why all these strange squares and triangles? I’m not an art historian, but after reading all of Kandinsky’s writings, something finally clicked. It’s not something you can explain in two sentences, so we chose to tell it through a film. The project combines different techniques: motion design, stop-motion and documentary-style animation. We enter Kandinsky’s ideas, his way of living, and the bold vision that led him to create a style radically different from realism and even Impressionism. We’re also experimenting with AI, and it’s fascinating to see how it can bring early 20th-century portraits to life. Above all, I wanted this film to explain what Kandinsky did in a simple, clear, accessible way—without overcomplicating, without being afraid to say simple things. Because often the simplest thing is also the hardest.
