Il mobile infinito e l’alchimia

Sinossi

Il Mobile Infinito is a collective project conceived in 1981 by Alessandro Mendini in collaboration with the Alchimia group, a laboratory of radical experimentation in Italian design. The documentary reconstructs the genesis and meaning of this visionary work through archival materials, original drawings, period photographs and first-hand testimonies from designers including Alessandro Guerriero, Denis Santachiara and Ugo La Pietra. More than forty years after its creation, Il Mobile Infinito emerges as a collective reflection on design as an expressive, poetic and political language. For its presentation in September 1981, in the courtyard of the Politecnico di Milano, Mendini involved the Florentine theatre group Magazzini Criminali. The documentary includes excerpts from original footage of the performance, with Federico Tiezzi, creator of the performance, and Franco Raggi, the scenographer, discussing the work and the spirit that shaped its presentation.
