After an obsessive vision of a distant land, Siljan sets out in search of his origins. Guided by an enigmatic Fortune Teller, Siljan uncovers a truth that reshapes his identity and his place in the world. As realities converge and the fear of losing everything grows, he must face the question: can we ever truly return home?

Dead Roots is a search for home. I was born in Macedonia and, having had to move often, I never truly felt rooted in the places where I lived. In the years leading up to this film I began to long for a home that, in truth, had never existed: every time I started to put down roots somewhere, nostalgia for the places left behind returned. I made Dead Roots to explore this duality and, I hope, to offer comfort and connection to anyone who feels “uprooted,” even if only through recognising this pain.
