
Piero Deggiovanni
Piero Deggiovanni (Lugo, 1957) teaches History of Contemporary Art; History and Theory of New Media; Theory and Analysis of Cinema and Audiovisuals at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and the Free Academy of Fine Arts in Rimini. He was a contract professor of Tools and Techniques of Visual Communication at the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the University of Bologna (1999 – 2006). He is a critic and researcher in the field of contemporary art, with particular attention to the artistic reality of his territory. He is particularly interested in video art and experimental cinema. From 2015 to 2022 he organized the Festival delle Audiovisioni Ibridanti Meta-Cinema. He is the Competition Director of the Asolo Art Film Festival and since 2022 he has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Videoart Yearbook of the University of Bologna. He published, together with Valeria Roncuzzi, the volume, Francesco Baracca e l’ideale eroico. Dal mito al logo, Minerva ed., Bologna 2018, dedicated to the media dissemination of the figure of the hero and, recently, Critical Anthology of Italian Video Art, 2010-2020, Kaplan, Turin, 2019.
